The Europe Direct network in Europe.
Europe
Direct is a
pan-European info-network run in all 25 member states of the EU. It replaced
the previous info-networks Info Point and Carrefour. In the EU-countries Europe
Direct works as a network of 392 info points, in Poland itself there are 20 of
them. In 2005 the European Commission determined for its activities 10 million
€.
Europe Direct has a general
profile and addresses all parts of society and people who search for information
concerning the activity fields of the European institutions.
The
aim of the new
network is to ensure the best possible knowledge about the institutions, law
and programs of the EU.
The info point Europe
Direct undertakes a wide range of activities. The network’s task is to
spread information about political matters and programs of the European Union
by means of:
- facilitation for the regional inhabitants to get access to information,
counsel, help and answers concerning the EU’s legislation, politics, programs
and accessible resources,
- facilitation for the regional inhabitants to send information
refunds to the EU-institutions about the function of the EU in form of questions,
opinions and suggestions,
- facilitation for the EU-institutions to improve the
information accessibility and to adjust to the needs of the local society.
The Europe Direct network in Poland.
20 of the 392 Info Points of the Europe Direct network are being run in Poland.
Responsible for efficiency of the Europe Direct network in Poland is the Office
of the Committee for European Integration in cooperation with the Representation
of the European Commission.
